"Stimulating children's minds."

Burgess Hill's longest established preschool…

Based at The Community Room in the grounds of Birchwood Grove CP School in Burgess Hill, Dicker House Preschool has been running in one form or the other for over 80 years. Our spacious setting offers space for up to 26 children. We strongly believe in the value of play as a means of learning, and through this means, aim to help children develop academically, creatively, emotionally, physically and socially within a happy, safe and secure environment. We always carry a higher than required staff:child ratio in our setting.

Dicker House PreSchool is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, a national body which helps parents to understand and provide for the needs of their young children. The PLA, together with other academic bodies, assists us with staff training, and advises us on providing the best care possible. We are also registered and inspected regularly by OFSTED - read our latest report.

We meet Monday to Friday for morning sessions starting at 8.55 - 11.55 am and afternoon sessions from 11.55 – 2.55pm, providing access to a total of 6 hours of childcare per day. We can also offer an additional lunch hour if spaces allow, to which any of the children in on this day may attend at an additional cost or as part of your free entitlement. Parent Testimonials

Both my children have loved going to Dicker House, it's like a home from home for them. All the staff are so welcoming, friendly and caring; nothing is too much trouble. It's also very convenient being on the same site as Birchwood Grove School now that I have one child at the main school and one at Dicker House. It will be a very sad day when my youngest has to leave!

We chose, at first, to put our son in Dicker House mainly because of the convenience as his sister is at Birchwood Grove School and since we have been very happy to see how he has grown and developed into a confident little boy. Dicker House is a small set up but offers enough for the children to thrive in a friendly atmosphere. My son now attends full time and loves it!"

I looked at a few different pre schools for my eldest son, but chose Dicker House because the staff are so caring and experienced. I have total confidence that the staff have the children’s best interests and welfare at heart. Both my sons settled very quickly into Dicker House. The fact that Dicker House is on the same site as Birchwood Grove is a real benefit - Jacqui and her team make sure that children transition well from pre school to ‘big’ school.

I chose Dicker House for my Son who is hearing impaired as it's a small, well established pre school with staff who have been fantastically supportive at making sure all my Son's needs are met. James loves going to pre school and its great to see how well he is thriving in an inclusive mainstream environment.
